A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.

Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.

Simple put i'v wanted this car since i was ten years ole. A couple months before i was old enough to drive i finally bought her. I got a 2002 mustang gt 5 speed manuel. It's a beatiful shade of red that goes perfectly with the edgy body style it boosts. I bought her with 62,000 miles. In the 4 months I had her i already dropped 3 grand into her with tasteful modifications. i put slp headers, bassani cat back which sounds awesome. tint in the back and chrome salean 5 star lug wheels. Also a couple other chrome accesories and looks sick as hell. Car turns heads everywhere i go. I get so much attention for it and i love her. sound system sounds good and performance is great. Great car.

I bought the car used in 2005 when I started college w/a lot of miles already (now 177k). The car was an absolute blast to drive for the1st couple years. Even though it was a V6, the manual tranny gave it some gusto. Sadly after 2-3 years of owning it, I started noticing a ticking sound, which turned out to be a major exhaust leak, & eventually I had both exhaust pipes completely break off from the engine block. Then a couple years later, the major blow out came--I now have a blown piston rod, & the cost of the repairs is more than the car's value. Also had a headlight & all power features go out. So sad to see it go. I would've bought another if it wasn't for the major mechanical setbacks 

Sporty handling; fun with manual transmission (but was really hard to drive at 1st because the clutch is not hydraulic); attractive two-toned interior

Bought my Stang new in 2000, would have loved the GT but fell in love with the Gold V6 with the 5 speed. The color still gets compliments today. Have 67K on it, and until yesterday have only had to replace tires, a battery, front brakes,bad window/lock switch and a fuel line which rotted out . Yesterday the clutch blew. I cant even be upset about it. The maintenance on this car has been next to nothing. I love the performance, still has a lot of kick! One bad paint spot on the roof and not happy with the fog on the headlights. Great car and will be buying another when this one decides to go to heaven

Gold paint, responsive 5 speed, favorite body styling till the 2012 came out but feel guilty admiring them I love this one so much.

I purchased a 1998 GT as a project car to keep and tinker with. Needless to say this will be a good challenge for me. There a few things to repair and customize. Above all the engine is rumbling like a champ. LOVE! the engine and exhaust sound. Black and tan interior match very well and replacement parts are fair in price. I plan on doing some upgrades to the engines. Even as a used car, a GT 4.6L has a lot of power and will give incredible speeds. Parents beware, you should not buy your teenager such a powerful car. Buy they aa base mustang V6/V4.

My dad bought me this car when I was a senior in high school. I always wanted a Mustang since I was a little girl. I didn't know a whole lot about cars before this one, but Mustangs are cute, and I got a used one!

At first my dad was worried about me driving a car with a V8, but after driving it, he said he wasn't worried about me crashing. It's a lot more comfortable than my previous car I bought with my own money. Even for V8, it's not scary at all to drive. From what I was told, I guess the 90's GTs weren't really powerful.

It gets a lot of attention wherever I go, especially from the other girls at my school. SOOO many girls want to have a Mustang and I feel lucky to have one.

Gas mileage is kind of bad, especially compared to my last car.

The speakers are nice, and it's easy to drive and see out of.

All in all, it's not perfect, but it's so worth the drive.

Ladies, if you want cute car that sounds and looks great, get a Mustang! I'll keep it forever and I hope someday when I have kids and I have a daughter, I can get her a Mustang of her own!

I have a 96 Mustang Convertible with 311+K on the Body. Engine Has around 100k. I average 20 City and 30 MPG Freeway even if I'm driving Fast. Turning radius on these year stangs 94- 04 is horrific. Winter Driving takes a skilled driver. Always starts for me.

Easy to put down top. Ashtray in center/with cover. Side scoops that actually let air through. Good Looks. Hi way driving is pleasurable.

Better handling. making a u turn takes 4 lanes. Seen minivans with better turning radius's. Better interior plastics. Something for winter driving? This is a death trap if it's snowy at all. An actual cup holder? Foldaway mirrors. rear fold down seats in convertible.

Originally built for the track, it is equipped with a competition suspension, heavy-duty radiator and oil-cooler, 351 marine block with GT-40 cylinder leads, Tremec five-speed transmission and p255/45ZR17 BF Goodrich Comp T/A radials. It lacks air conditioning, back seats, and stereo. A competition license from a sanctioned racing body is required in order to purchase one of 250 white Cobra R models.

A Cobra R, considerably one of the most “potent” Mustangs ever to roll off the Dearborn assembly line, has unique 5-spoke “R” wheels, a fuel cell, and a raised fiberglass hood. Its 5.8 liter 300-horsepower/365 foot-pounds of torque make its presence clearly known.

The 5.0L 302 cid V8 disappears from the Mustang following the ’95 year. This marks the end of the Mustangs overhead-valve/pushrod-engine era. Also, the SVT badge appears on the Cobra for the first time.
